SIXTH FORM at MAGDALEN COLLEGE SCHOOL (Please note this will open in YouTube)
Choosing to study in our Sixth Form opens up a new world of learning. Students are encouraged to make careful choices about the design of their personal academic curriculum, selecting a range and mix of subjects that they will find interesting and valuable. We are dedicated to providing excellence and rigour in each of our subjects.
Every student's selection of 3 or 4 subjects at A-level is complemented by our Extended Project and Magdalen Scholarship programme. We value learning to research, reflect and analyse in our subject specialisms and beyond. Students can re-sit either Maths or English GCSE - we cannot enrol students who need to resit both.
Sixth Form students also benefit from our personal development curriculum which ensures they are well-prepared to make positive contributions to their community and next place of study.

Entrance Criteria
Like all Sixth Forms we do ask students to have a minimum level of GCSE grades for acceptance on to our courses. These are:
- an average point score of 4 or better across all GCSEs taken
- GCSE Grade 6 is needed to study for A levels in the particular subjects that have a higher tier GCSE paper (Languages, Mathematics, Sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- Grades 6-5 in GCSE Combines Science will be sufficient to study any individual Science A level
- A GCSE resit can be taken in either Maths or English (but not both)
We have not set eligibility criteria for other subjects which means that you may study an A level without having studied it at GCSE, recognising there may be challenges in doing so.
